April was all about Avengers: Infinity War, which earned about as much during its opening weekend as the next two biggest films, A Quiet Place and Rampage, will earn in total. However, moving Infinity War to April has left a big gap for the first two weeks of May. It isn’t until Deadpool 2 debuts that we have a potential $100 million movie, while the week after Solo: A Star Wars Story closes the month on a strong note. Fortunately, both of those films are expected to earn more than $100 million during their opening weekends alone and combined could earn over $700 million domestically. Last May, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 helped the month get off to a fast start, but it was the only monster hit of the month. Infinity War opening a week early will mean the month will start slower, in terms of new releases, but Infinity War’s record-breaking debut should help 2018 come out ahead in the end.

What We Did on Our Holiday is a dramedy starring Rosamund Pike and David Tennant as a less-than-happy couple traveling to his father for less-than-happy reasons. It hardly made an impact at the box office in its native U.K. and barely made a peep here. Was there a reason it was ignored? Or is it an undiscovered gem?

It's a good week / bad week on the home market. There are several releases coming out this week that are absolutely worth picking up. But there are also several of these where I'm still waiting for screeners to arrive, some of which are contenders for Pick of the Week, like The Grand Budapest Hotel or House of Cards. Other potential Pick of the Week contenders include Ernest and Celestine on Blu-ray Combo Pack and The LEGO Movie on Blu-ray Combo Pack. It was literally a coin toss and Ernest and Celestine won. Meanwhile, No Clue on DVD wins the Puck of the Week, for the best Canadian release of the week.

It's a weird week on the home market. There are more first-run releases on this week's list than last week, as well as some TV on DVD releases and others. That said, it still feels very shallow. Even coming up with a list of ten new releases will include some filler. According to Amazon.com, I, Frankenstein is the biggest selling new release of the week. However, Her is the best new release of the week and the Blu-ray Combo Pack is the Pick of the Week.

The home market isn't terrible this week and there are a couple of releases on top that could sell well. However, it is not a very deep week and even the second page of the new releases over on Amazon.com has some releases I would call filler. Anchorman: The Legend Continues on 3-Disc Blu-ray Combo Pack is the best-selling new release of the week and it is arguably the best as well. The Pirate Fairy on Blu-ray Combo Pack is the second best-selling new release of the week and also a contender for Pick of the Week. Meanwhile, I'm really looking forward to seeing Knights of Badassdom but the Blu-ray Combo Pack is still on its way.

I reviewed the 2011 remake version of Fright Night and while I didn't like it as much as the average critic, it was clearly better than its box office numbers would indicate. I am a little surprised that the film is earning a sequel, even a direct-to-DVD sequel. Is this film worth checking out for fans of the original movie? Or is it a sequel in name only and just a cheap cash grab?
