Reclusive Per Theater Chart
September 11, 2013
The buzz surrounding Salinger helped it earn first place on the Per Theater Chart with an average of $21,739 in four theaters. However, given its reviews, I don't think it will last long. Instructions Not Included remained in the $10,000 club with an average of $11,366 in more than 700 theaters. It could still expand further, given its per theater average.
There were many other new limited releases, but most were weak. Good Ol' Freda was the best of the rest with $6,798 in one theater. Populaire opened here with an average of $5,230 in three theaters. The latest Bollywood release to come out here was Shuddh Desi Romace, which pulled in an average of $3,183 in just over 100 theaters. Red Obsession was next with an average of $2,530 in two theaters, while Out of the Clear Blue Sky was right behind with an average of $2,344. Adore opened in 57 theaters, which is too much to handle, while its average was just $2,200. A Teacher earned an estimated $4,000 in two theaters for an average of $2,000. Winnie Mandela just missed the Mendoza Line with an average of $1,933 in 32 theaters. It was playing in too many theaters, but missing the Mendoza Line means there's no way to spin it in a positive light. Touchy Feely was even worse with an average of $1,724 in two theaters. The Ultimate Life opened way too wide, in more than 400 theaters, and crashed with an average of $1,602. InSpectres was well back with just $610 in one theater over the weekend, $1,991 if you include Thursday. Hell Baby only managed an average of $498 in ten theaters. It will perform better on the home market; in fact, it should have skipped theaters altogether.
This past week also saw milestones reached for a few Per Theater Chart alumni:
